A gentle evening in early spring 2017 found me puffing and panting up the slopes of Foel Fenlli, one of the peaks in the Clywdian Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), fully laden with camera gear to catch the dusk, twilight and onset of night over the Vale of Clwyd stretched out below me.
Setting up just as the sun was lowering behind the clouds over Snowdonia on the western horizon, I let my tripod mounted camera click away recording the stills for this time lapse as I got my breath back while admiring the view and making the odd exposure adjustment as the light levels fell away.
In centre stage on the plain below me, the market town of Ruthin statred to light up for the evening, the artificial lights of the town gradually overcoming the fading light of day while the head and tail lights of the night time traffic scored trails of luminance across the Vale.
I stayed in place until it was almost too dark to see before packing up and finally making my way gingerly back down the side of Foel Fenlli by torchlight to my waiting car for the fifteen minute drive back home.
It's wonderful to live in such a lovely part of the world as North Wales, with views like this available just a short drive away.
