A beautiful day in July 2021, and with a couple of hours' free time on my hands I headed up to Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in North Wales, just a short drive from my home.
My intention was to climb to the summit and shoot a time lapse video of clouds streaming over the ruins of the Jubilee Tower, a famous local landmark, but having parked up in the the Pen Barras car park at the foot of the hill, I was captivated by this view out over the Vale of Clwyd and the market town of Ruthin.
With broken cumulus clouds scudding by, casting moving patches of sunlight and shadow over the landscape below, I decided to delay my climb by twenty minutes or so in order to capture the few hundred still images required to create this time lapse.
Well worth the wait, and then it was onwards and upwards in a panting and sweaty climb, ready for the next time lapse shoot further up Moel Famau.
