On the last day of our two week holiday spent exploring the beauties of Devon and Cornwall my wife Liz and I decided to take the scenic route home to North Wales, calling in at the twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth on the Atlantic coast of north Devon.
We'd spent a week's holiday here about fifteen years ago, and were pleased to find that nothing had changed from how we remembered it.
Parking at Lynton, the higher of the two towns, and after a fortifying pasty and cup of coffee, we headed off along the Valley of the Rocks, a beautiful and dramatic coastal path set high above the Atlantic ocean taking in some very steep cliffs along its route.
The weather was just perfect, with a gentle breeze blowing light summer cumulus clouds over the sunlit azure waters below.
The effect was mesmersising, with cloud shadows tracking across the surface of the sea, mimicking the movement of the clouds above.
Just too good an opportunity to miss, so with a bit of careful tripod placement on the narrow path I was able to shoot fifteen minutes' worth of still images, one every two seconds, speeding up the movement of the clouds and corresponding shadows.
There were also a number of hikers on the path, whose tiny figures give an idea of the huge scale of this impressive landscape.
