In late March 2022 there was an unusual spell of lovely weather over North Wales, with clear skies and calm conditions lasting for over a week.
And fortunately for me, this spell of good weather coincided with an event which only occurs twice a year.
That is, the sun setting over the summit of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as viewed from the limestone escarpment in the Loggerheads Country Park, just a few minutes' drive from my home.
So every evening during that week I made the trek up to the top of the escarpment and shot thousands of still images, creating a series of time lapse videos as the sunset tracked further northwards and crept closer to the ruined stump of the Jubilee Tower which crowns Moel Famau.

And finally, on the last day of clear weather, the timing was perfect as the setting sun slid inexorably downwards directly behind the silhouette of the Jubilee Tower as my camera clicked away recrding the 1000+ still images needed to create this time lapse.
It's very rare in the field of outdoor photography that something actually goes according to plan, so I'm very grateful that my perseverance paid off and I got the time lapse I had envisioned over the course of this amazing week.
