Duckpool is a secluded cove on the Atlantic coast of North Cornwall, with a huge sandy beach at low tide which is pretty much deserted most of the year.
Bounded by towering cliffs and sitting at the end of the wooded Coombe Valley, Duckpool is a sensory delight, with the sights, smells and sounds of the ocean and shoreline engendering an immense sense of well being.
At least, that's how my wife Liz and I felt about Duckpool as we spent a couple of glorious days here as part of our two week explore of the beauties of Devon and Cornwall.
The southwest coastal path passes through Duckpool, with a serious climb up the cliffs on either side of the beach.
This is the view facing the ocean from down on the edge of the beach, which, along with a lot of pristine sand, also boasts some fascinating rock formations to admire.
I kind of wish I was back there, standing on the shore with the smell of salt and seaweed in the air and the gulls crying mournfully overhead.
Never mind though, as I have these photos to remind me, as well as my Duckpool Video #1 to look at as the rain pours down outside.
