The beech woods at the Loggerheads Country Park, in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), North Wales, are at their finest in late autumn, as the canopy turn from green to gold and the pathways are carpeted with a fresh layer of fallen leaves.
My wife Liz and I spent quite a lot of time exploring our local woods, during the coronavirus lockdown of 2020, and really benefitted from re-discovering our local beauty spots.
And on a gorgeous autumnal day, with the low angled sunlight filtering through the trees while the sounds and smells of damp woodland overwhelm the senses, where else would you want to be?
