One of just many dramatic coastline locations in the southwest of Ireland, this is a view of Cork Bay, as seen from Roches Point on the edge of the Atlantic ocean.
I'd just finished shooting the stills for my Roches Point Time Lapse video, but I couldn't tear myself away from this wonderful night time view without recording the glow of Cork's lights, underlightihng the clouds over the bay with an vivid orange hue.
However, the dynamic range of the scene was far too great for my camera's sensor to record, with a dark foreground contrasting with the brightly lit horizon.
HDR to the rescue then, with five frames captured, each 1 stop of exposure setting apart, for later combining in Adobe Lightroom, followed by tweaking in Photoshop, to give this balanced composite image.
A great start to the week that my wife Liz and I spent exploring this wonderful and wild coastline.
