One of the main reasons my wife Liz and I took a trip to Santa Cruz de Tenerife during our week long stay in the Canary Islands in January 2020 was to see and photograph the amazing auditorium on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.
Designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, the hook like structure towers over the surrounding waterfront park and gardens, dominating the skyline.
Of course, I took loads of photos in the glorious warm light of the setting sun and then just as the sun had set, I settled down in the park next to the auditorium to shoot the hundreds of still images needed to create my Tenerife Santa Cruz Timelapse #1 video.
It was a lovely evening, and I watched entranced as the natural light of day gave way to artificial lights of night, with the auditorium glowing against the darkening sky.
This image is taken from around the middle of the time lapse shoot, with natural and artificial lights nicely balanced.
Well worth the long drive from our resort at Costa Adeje to witness and photograph such a lovely spectacle.
