The waterfront parks and gardens at Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital city of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, are just delightful to walk around, which is just what my wife Liz and I were doing towards the end of our week long winter sun break here.
The big attraction in this part of town is the huge auditorioum, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava, but in the adjacent gardens are some lovely sculptures and old buildings to enjoy.
This rather magnificent work caught my eye as we were walking back to our hire car, the wind sculpture by Caesar Manrique, shining in the artificial light of streetlamps, set against the deep blue night sky with the moon and Venus glowing in the background.
