The late evening sun was grazing the landscape as my wife Liz and I pulled into our favourite layby overlooking the wonderful Menai Straits, that narrow body of sea the separates the Isle of Anglesey from mainland Wales.
Spanned by two bridges, the iconic Thomas Telford suspension bridge, the first of its kind in the world, and the curious 'double decker' Brittania road and rail bridge pictured here, the fierce tidal flow of the Straits has only recently been tamed.
My usual preference, photographically speaking, is the suspension bridge, but with such beautiful light on the arch of the Brittania bridge and on the foregound slopes I turned my camera to the south to capture this image.

Exposure - 1/60 sec @ f8, ISO100
Filters - 2 stop neutral density graduated filter used to reduce the brightness of the sky relative to the landscape.

Image enhancements - Adobe Lightroom
Comments - Tripod, remote release and mirror lockup used to prevent camera movement.
