The story behind this image

A beautiful early November morning spent at altitude on the slopes of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Wales, and I'd already spent an hour or so filming the sunrise for my Moel Famau Sunrise Timelapse #3 video.

But making way back down along Offa's Dyke, I couldn't resist stopping a few times to photograph the summit of Moel Famau, crowned with the jagged ruins of the Jubilee Tower and lit with glowing warm light from the low angled sun over to the southeast.

And I wasn't the only one enjoying this best part of the day, as I met a few hikers on their way up as I was coming down, and I couldn't help but include one or two in my images, to add a bit of human interest and a sense of scale to this epic landscape.
