Built by King Edward the First in the 13th century to keep the unruly welsh in their place, the medieval castle at Conwy is one of the jewels in the crown of the North Wales coast.
Sitting on the banks of the river Conwy as it empties into the Irish Sea, and approached by a road and railway bridge over the estuary, the castle makes for a dramatic photograph.
My favourite time to visit and capture some images is around dusk, when the lights of the castle come on, slowly becoming brighter and brighter against the darkening twilight sky.
This photo was taken just just before the sky became fully dark, with a six second exposure being the most I could allow before the brightly lit castle turret became overexposed and lost detail.
