The North Wales coast boasts some delightful (and some not so delightful) seaside towns, each with its own distinct character.
Which leaves my wife Liz and I spoilt for choice when we fancy an afternoon by the sea.
But when we're looking for a bit of peace and quiet, away from the bustle of the ever popular Llandudno, we'll head a little further along the A55 expressway to the sleeply little resort of Llanfairfechan.
For all the years we've been coming to Llanfairfechan we haven't seen the town change one bit, it really is the place that time forgot.
Which is a good thing if what you're looking for is a quiet walk along the North Wales coastal path, past deserted beaches and salt marsh flats filled with a variety of birdlife, rather than hotels and seaside amusements.
The town of Llanfairfechan itself isn't much to look at really (inhabitants may disagree!), but there is one eye catching building on offer, which is shown in this image, set against the imposing bulk of the Llanfairfechan headland.
I don't know the history of this unique structure with its colourful tower, but whoever built it has my gratitude for breaking up and otherwise rather flat townscape.
