It's 4.30am on a glorious pre-dawn morning in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and I'm panting away, having climbed to the top of the highest peak in the range, Moel Famau, to photograph the sunrise.
But with the sunrise still an hour away my attention turned to the ruined stump of the Jubilee Tower, silhouetted against the glowing blue twilight sky and broken clouds which were catching the artificial lights from Denbigh and the North Wales coastal strip far below me.
Just a lovely colour combination, and well worth setting up my camera and tripod earlier than I'd planned in order to photograph the tower set against those dramatic skies.
A 30 second exposure allowed the clouds to blur slightly, adding to the otherworldy ambiance I was experiencing on this wonderful morning.
Or maybe I was just in a state of oxygen starvation after my strenous climb!
